9. Relocating when your kids are in school is a problem.

I know, I've been there. In the early years of our marriage we moved every couple of years or so. My husband and I were perfectly okay with that, even when we first had kids.

And then they reached a point where we realized we just shouldn't jerk them around any more, not if we could help it. Our two were in grade school when he changed jobs so that we could stay put. It was the right decision for us. About seven or eight years later we gave serious thought to another job-related relocation, but didn't do it essentially because we didn't want to move to that particular part of the country.

Other families would make other decisions.
