NFC in it's current state is tepid functionality-wise, at best. Which is one reason Apple has stayed away from it.

In fact, today as a feature of iOS 7, they introduces 'AirDrop.' The presenter took a swipe at Samsung and their NFC 'Bump,' (got a big laugh) which was featured in a bunch of Apple dissing ads. It does not work well, and few Samsung owners even try to use it.

In AirDrop, you touch the screen of your device to deliver media to a iOS or OS X user (or users). What the Samsung commercials did not show was that you had to set up the transfer on the screen... and then bump phones. Apple skipped the silly hipster 'bump.'
