for her problems with constipation for years. Usually, I just give her about a teaspoon from time to time when she is having trouble. My grandmother used to take a tablespoon every once in a while and said it made a much more natural laxative and stomach "settler" than most of the stuff you buy for that purpose. It always worked for her too.

So, I knew it could be taken in that way, but I did not know about the vegetable oil being a problem with the 2 older wooden spoons I have. It turned them dark and they never seemed to get clean again. What happens with vegetable oil is that it breaks down and becomes rancid. Well, the word I read was a different word than rancid, but meant pretty much the same thing, but I cannot remember it right off the top of my head. In any case, vegetable oil breaks down and spoils in a way that you don't want to use the spoons after that.

Apparently, with mineral oil, that doesn't happen. So, this recipe is just what I was looking for. I am treating the box the new spoon set came in too. It is also wooden. It really makes the wood shine and brings out the natural beauty of it too.
