3. If you're at risk of ending up with Reform councillors

That's not a welcome prospect. Round here a bunch of Farage supporters won control of the Parish Council a few years back, only to fall out with each other spectacularly.

At present Reform are looking like they will be mounting a strong challenge in the area where I live, not helped by the City Council wanting to build heavily on the Green Belt. Reform are jumping heavily on the nimby bandwagon here, and seeking to scapegoat immigrants for said proposed development to an absurd degree.

What they don't realise is that encouraging people to object to development for racist reasons will not work at all. People being offended by brown skinned folk walking to work is simply not a material consideration that any planning department will consider. They might win elections this way, but they won't be able to keep any promises they make on the campaign trail.

Derbyshire County Council has just gone Reform and is at risk of both these things. Personal fallings out (many of them have fallen out with local Tories over such matters) and being unable to keep any campaign promises (something exacerbated by the terrible state of the County Council finances).
