It was a leader's debate. BBC report says Michael Gove was OK to substitute for Johnson if it was OK with the other leaders. Since Nicola Sturgeon had bust her butt to get to London, I could understand if she did object.

Also Channel 4 doesn't produce any of its own programmes and that includes the news. That's been done for years by ITN, the same people who do the ITV (Channel 3 to some) and Channel 5 news. It seems odd to me that Channel 4 News is seen to "lean left" yet ITV News is seen to "lean right"... but both news programmes are produced by the same company with the exact same standards and to tell it like it is (though Channel 4 News is more analytical and investigative than ITV). Some of these media biases I believe are made up by politicians upset with the facts being against their beliefs.
