1. The point this Opinion piece is trying to make may be legit, but use fearmongering with incorrect "facts" to do it.

They start out saying : "Let’s say the absolute minimum for any Republican candidate is 45%."

Why would we say that? in the last Michigan Governor election in 2022 the Republican candidate got less than 44%. As did the Republican candidate in 2018. The Republican candidate is in no way guaranteed to get 45% of the vote and even 40% isn't totally guaranteed.

Yes, Duggan running would be a stupid move on his part, but they should stick to facts in explaining why.
