Hogan spoke out forcefully against Trump, he's the kind of guy that MAGAs would rather see lose because he's worse than a Democrat, he's a traitor to Trump. It will be tough for him to get a lot of support from the right wing of the party in Maryland. This is a very blue state and Hogan is exactly the kind of "old fashioned" Republican that blue state voters occasionally fall in love with for some reason, but if he goes up against a solid Democratic opponent, can he sway enough independents and Democrats to counter defections from his base?
