Hubbell calls out Reynolds, Trump and King over integrity, civility issues [View all]
Iowa Democratic gubernatorial candidate Fred Hubbell cut himself off mid-sentence to call out Gov. Kim Reynolds' behavior when a crowd gathered in Indianola on Sunday applauded his promise to be a candidate with integrity.
Hubbell was answering a question about why he chose to feature Planned Parenthood in his campaign's first television advertisement instead of highlighting his business experience.
Hubbell said he chose to do that because when he was serving as the chairman of Younkers in the 1980s, he simultaneously served on the Planned Parenthood for Iowa board. The people of Sioux City threatened to protest the Younkers store there if Hubbell didn't leave Planned Parenthood.
Hubbell stayed on the board and said he told protesters, "'Health care is important to everyone, including our employees,'" Hubbell said Sunday. "I wanted that ad out there because I wanted people to know what I stand for.
