Iowan Jamie Johnson resigns federal post after comments about black people, Muslims revealed [View all]

The Hill reports Iowan Rev. Jamie Johnson has resigned his federal post after CNN's KFILE reviewed years of his commentary on conservative talk radio shows and revealed numerous disparaging comments about African Americans and Muslims

Johnson, who has long been active in Iowa politics, had been serving as the head of the Center for Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships at the Department of Homeland Security.

Johnson originally issued an apology to CNN, and a department spokesman offered support of him.

But later Thursday evening, acting press secretary Tyler Houlton confirmed to The Hill that Johnson's resignation had been accepted.
