Manatee County commission approves county-wide juvenile curfew [View all]

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Manatee County commissioners approved a county-wide curfew impacting teens under 16 years of age Tuesday.

Commissioners hope to see the curfew reduce crime and keep kids safe and out of trouble during the overnight hours.

“There are a lot of kids unfortunately who are out on the streets and their parents don’t even know and they’re getting themselves into very potentially dangerous situations,” said Commissioner Amanda Ballard.

The curfew applies to anyone under 16 years old. It will run from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
