He'd "train" the dog by having it pull a heavy log around his backyard.

When the guy was arrested and sentenced to prison for something else the police took his dog too and I was greatly relieved. But I was a little sad too. The dog didn't deserve that.

I'm not a fan of dog breeders in general.

The dogs I grew up with, and the dogs my wife and I have adopted have all been the castoffs of people who couldn't take care of them for one reason or another.
