Here's a treat: "C'mon And Swim" by Bobby Freeman (1964) [View all]

Chubby Checker had "Let's Do The Twist", a dance sensation that put the old Chubster at the top of the charts. He would go on to release at least 5 versions and several songs that sounded just like it.

Not one to be outdone, Bobby Freeman brought his dance to American Bandstand where the kids went ape (that was a different dance). Soon it swept Hollywood, Go Go Clubs, and of course beach parties. I remember my older sister practicing The Swim before a date.

The song was co-written and produced by 20 year old Sylvester Stewart, later known as Sly Stone of Family fame
Freeman didn't go away after this mega hit though, as he also released "Shimmy Shimmy", another dance craze of the '60s. Maybe we'll look at those moves tomorrow.
