I did this song back in the mid to late 70s.
I had a band of younger guys (I has just graduated from college, but I was only 19, so playing with a couple 17 year Olds, 32 16 year olds, and a 15 year old wasn't creepy. (The parents knew our family and I was an ahead of schedule grad wit a professional job. So I wasn't a "bad influence. 
)
I wasn't playing guitar long enough to do the solo so I skatted through it and the sax. Was fun to do.
I was firm about being a guitar player, not a piano player, and the 16 year old wasn't much of a soloist to carry all that.
We didn't work much because most bars were out of the question with 5 of 6 members underage.
It was my one & only attempt at being fully in charge & calling every shot. Never wanted to do that again. But, that was a very fun period musically.
The song brought all that back for me.
