A deep dream [View all]

I think I had several dreams through the night, and awoke several times between them . I didn’t bother to remember the first ones , just the last one . I awoke around 2am , went back to sleep and awoke again a bit after 4 am . Again went back to sleep .
I then awoke around 6:30 and lay there thinking about getting up , but it was too early and too cold , so turned on the tv news … as soon as a story came on about the Pisswig, and he wasn’t dead , I muted it and drifted back to sleep . Then had this deep dream .

I was returning from a trip , knew I was returning because I was viewing the surroundings as a landmark/map , knowing I was headed back from recognizing buildings and scenery ,

I wasn’t in a car , but on an electric ? surfboard, that i sat on with my legs ahead of me , or on my knees so I could see further in the distance around me . Ahead I could see a fairly large city that I was approaching on a multilane highway , tall buildings that the road was entering on a downhill slope .

As soon as I got in the city , I turned and started entering neighborhood streets, all going downhill . No where were people or animals , some vegetation, and kept turning g into more and more desolate areas . Homes became more hovel like and the roads were still downhill . I turned again and it seemed I had entered a medieval scene with stone castles and realized it might have been more like an older 1800s ? university setting ( how I imagine Harvard might be) with large stone buildings and courtyards, with grand stone staircases that again still led down .
Even the sidewalks were downhill .
My surfboard had lost power somewhere along the way so I was walking down wide staircase down into courtyards , there was much greenery and tall trees that must have been 100s of years old .

I approached and entered a grand stone building , with huge rooms and of course grand staircases that only led down … went down and eventually entered what appeared to be a hall cut from stone and followed it down until it narrowed and became almost a tunnel … walls and floor cut from stone , very dim yellowish glowing light , and still tall enough to walk upright . It seemed to come to an end but then I realized it turned to the right .

I entered this hall and saw 3 figures ahead of me , two burly figures intent on some chore of some such and a third directing them . I approached and asked him if he could tell me the way back up ( since everywhere led down) and he pointed to the wall beside him , where appeared two doors like elevator doors cut from stone . They opened and led to a a room like a freight elevator maybe 8-9 feet square with stone walls . The floor seemed about 4 feet or so below where I was standing , and was covered with sacks of … stuff I guess , and I don’t want to step on them . The 3rd man pointed to a cast iron pipe about a foot across that came from the floor , turned horizontally for about 6 feet and then turned back down towards the floor . “ step to that “ he gestured and i stepped/floated/ flew to the pipe and stood on that . The doors of the elevator closed …

I immediately thought I’d made a mistake , thinking it was going to head down deeper , but the sensation was i was rising slowly .
So I waited and observed my surroundings … walls cut from stone all around me , and there appeared to be a refrigeration unit of some sort to one side . I found this fascinating , wondering about how cool a stone refrigerator would be and almost opened it to look inside , but decided not to . I also thought I had stopped ascending and bounced on the pipe and felt the slight downward motion , and then felt the ascension motion again . It was slow but still moving up.

Eventually it came to a stop and the doors opened and I could tell by the bright daylight I had arrived back up somewhere , and stepped out into a cage … made from slats of wood maybe 4” wide with wide gaps between them . It was maybe 3 feet square (3 sided) and maybe 10-12’ tall . I looked up and thought the top looked shoddy and I could probably break out from the cage there , and started to climb .

I stepped up with right foot to a slat, pulled myself up to bring up my left foot and the slat broke and slipped to the slat beneath it .
I stepped up again and each slat I stepped upon broke and slipped to the slat beneath it… slow going but I was making progress so continued … I looked up and it seemed the top was still 12’ away and I must have climbed 8-9’ already !

I looked through the slats and could see in the distance the highway I was on before , so I knew I was at least headed in the right direction , so began to climb again , one broken slat at a time up …

And then I woke up .

Like I said , deep .

Late today I saw this on FB …

I wish we had a Dream forum here , not so much for interpretation, but just for recounting … nor am I looking for interpretation, I feel like I understand my dream well enough .
I know for example I have been putting off defrosting my fridge/freezer for a while now. … and I need to take care of it pronto .
Plus the Auroras started last night . And continue tonight
