(21,236 posts)11. I remember changing out either the starter...
or the alternator in one of my 1960s cars. I was doing it alone. I couldn't hold onto the replacement part and bolt it on at the same time, so I got a rope and rigged up some kind of hoist to lift it in place. No problem...easy.
Now, when I lift the hood, I just stare at the engine, shake my head, close the hood, and take it to the repair shop...because I can't identify anything in there.
