3. Your wife kinda reminds me of my late mother-in-law.

Years ago we sat down to eat Easter dinner. We were just starting on the salad.

MiL: (Sitting down) We have pie for dessert.

Me: Oh, that sounds good.

MiL: (Jumps up). I’ll get you a piece.

Me: No, I’ll wait until after dinner, thanks.

MiL: I’ll just get you a little piece.

Me: No, let’s eat dinner first.

MiL: It’s no trouble. I’ll just slice the pie so you can have some!

FiL: Jean, will you SHUT UP about the damn pie!

MiL: (Hurt expression). Why, I haven’t said one word about pie.

Fun fact. In later years when she’d start, her second husband would say “Brook.” She’d continue and he’d say “Brook.”. She’d keep yammering, and he’d say “Brook.” Finally she’d ask, “Why do you keep saying Brook?”

“Because you’re babbling, Jean!”
