As someone of primarily English ancestry, I suspect that I have traces of Nordic ancestry, I see no reason to hang my head in shame or ignore the fact that Vikings could and did sail to North America and did it without the letters of marque by royal sponsors giving them the right to plunder and enslave any locals they encountered.
