17. I've eaten hotter since then but my most memorable time...

Tuesday

Was my first time in Mexico during a high school interchange with a school in Puebla. We had gone to Teotihuacan and then a nearby restaurant built in a large cave. And we were served bread with bowls of red and green salsa. It was a hot day, and I wasn't in the mood for anything spicy, and all the girls from the Mexican side of the interchange were eating the green salsa so I thought, "Oh, it can't be that hot." Well, my sexism was burned out of me as I drained my drink and the water of the person who was sitting next to me, which of course made it worse.

But by the time I went back in college on a program through the Spanish department, the professor in charge if the program and I were having contests on who could eat tgeir breakfast tortillas with the most salsa verde.
