The DU Lounge

Army days.
We got an R&R weekend in Berchtesgaden.
We stayed at a DID owned hotel (bathroom down the hall) that was very nice. Awe inspiring view of the Bavarian Alps right in front of us a step outside the room. Played golf and went white water rafting with DOD employees who just white water rafted and lived there - sweet job. One of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Army cooks (back when that was a skill you could learn in the Army) would come there for 3 months and be taught by German Italian Spanish and French chefs. Dinner was open for 3 hours so we ate for an hour AN HOUR, went to our rooms, emptied our stomachs so we could eat more, napped, and then went back downstairs for an hour of desserts.


It looks like the restaurant has expanded out in to what was a beautiful lush green field with the view we’ve all seen.
