Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a major breakthrough in the war against Russian-backed separatists in the east, shocking Moscow which has pinned all its hopes on the conflict. Hodges, a three-star general who served in both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, said the "conditions of success" had been met and the offensive could begin as early as next week.
