REMINDER: Despite his lawyers' pleas, Donald Trump refused to refrain from speaking. When questioned by Megyn Kelly about the classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, she inquired about their ownership.
Trump confidently stated his possession of these documents, citing the Presidential Records Act, but Trump was no longer President. Even though he lacked authorized permission to retain classified materials.
Despite being subpoenaed to submit the documents to the national archive, Trump persisted in holding onto them. The underlying query revolves around Trump's motivation for refusing to surrender the documents.
