Israel's spy agency, Mossad, is supposed to be pretty good. So, instead of Israel retaliating against Palestinian cities and civilians, I'd like to see Mossad operations against the Hamas political and military leaders. Cut off the head of the snake.

But an action like that would probably create retaliation from Arabic or Muslim nations in the area, escalating to a regional war.
