Menéndez was conspicuous for his outspoken support for Singer during the latter's vulture fund heist a decade ago.

Among Democrats, it was baffling as to why - given Singer's role as a both a GOP mega-bundler and one of the world's worst money launderers, as well as the gratuitous damage the heist was causing to U.S. standing abroad.

I think we now know what might've "persuaded" ol' Bob.
