1. In the early aughts I saw Paul Rusesabagina (Hotel Rwanda) raising money for the Darfur genocide

I can’t begin to understand why this is still happening 20-odd years later. I also don’t understand why violence against out-groups and the underprivileged is simply a way to be in the world. Sometimes I’m with Katniss Everdeen when she says this in Mockingjay:

I no longer feel any allegiance to these monsters called human beings, despite being one myself. I think Peeta was on to something about us destroying one another and letting some decent species take over, because there is something significantly wrong with a creature that sacrifices our children's lives to settle our differences.
