2. DOJ won't touch Smith or Garland

First of all, they are apparently squeaky clean, and any charges would almost certainly be dismissed before heading to trial, as will be the case with Comey and James.

Secondly, if by some slim chance either went to trial, the entire body of evidence gathered against Trump by Smith and Garland’s DOJ would be presented to the jury as proof of vindictive prosecution. If Bondi blocked the release of this evidence a mistrial would be declared.

Worst case scenario, they get audited by the IRS.

Smith has already volunteered to testify to congress, but only in an open hearing.
