Wind and solar energy production are the hero's in Texas!!
Texas solar production is up 47% on the year. Good thing, too, because energy consumption is up 6.5% so far this year after a 7.4% increase in July. By contrast, China's electric growth for first half of this year was 3.7%. More facts and figures here:

Energy consumption is up 6.5% in ERCOT through July 31;
Solar and wind have met almost all of the increase in demand so far this year: solar is up 47% amounting to an additional 12 terawatt-hours compared to 2024; wind is up 5% or 3 terawatt-hours.
Texas large load queue approaches 200 gigawatts;
Batteries have consumed 3 terawatt-hours so far this year accounting for 12% of the increase in demand so far this year. Of course, they mostly charge from solar power in the morning where there is far more power available than there is demand.
Texas electricity consumption is booming
Texans used 7.4% more power in July 2025 compared to July 2024, bumping the annual increase year-over-year to 6.5%........................
