districting commission. TX doesn't allow for referenda.

There is a DOJ suit filed four days ago against CA, though, after TX Republicans suit against CA was dismissed.
But there's also yet another Republican suit on appeal to the SCOTUS. ( I THINK these are two different suits, though I haven't checked the Democracy Docket's timeline.)

Since CA has the permission of CA citizens, the DOJ probably won't win this one. If SCOTUS were to overturn the CA referendum -- as the maga six would likely try to come up with some new "doctrine" about a state temporarily suspending its districting commission -- the ruling, imo, would effectively end US Constitutional rights of states to run their own elections.
