10. In the post-FDR, Post-JFK, post-LBJ period, most national Dems have become very wishy-washy

What I have always admired about Jackson is that he was willing to speak his mind plainly, leaving no question where he stood. He wasn't afraid to push for a better deal, a better future, a better America. There have been so few like that. A few other names come to mind. Bernie, obviously. Dennis Kucinich. Paul Tsongas. Howard Dean. There are others, but most of the party adopted this manner of speech where they talked a lot and said little of substance.

Jackson didn't traingulate, and he didn't back down just because somebody disagreed with him. He never tried to play it with no drama because he understood progress requires a fight, and that necessarily means drama. If there is no drama, you are probably not accomplishing much.
