Here is the current steak prices at Von's Supermarket in Los Angeles for a filet -- $25.99 a pound -- and it is only the "choice" cut grade of beef and not the "prime" cut grade of beef. They don't even sell the USDA "prime" cut grades of beef at Von's.

USDA choice beef tenderloin steak filet mignon. 100% guaranteed.
At Bristol Farms, where they do sell USDA "Prime" cuts of meat -- a "Prime" cut of a New York steak is $40.69 for one pound.

Von's gets a whole lot of their beef from Canada. I used to see "Product of Canada" on the labeling of ground hamburger that I used to purchase from Von's. About +/- 10% of US beef is imported from Argentina and Brazil. I don't know what the percentages are from imports of Canadian beef products nor Mexican beef products but I'm sure that there is a lot of such imported beef in the border states connected to Mexico and Canada (economies of scale for shipping costs -- pre-Turd tariffs). Given the 30+% tariffis which the Turd has now imposed on Mexico, Canada, Argentina and Brazil (50%) -- beef prices in grocery stores in the US will continue to rise to staggering levels which will basically become unaffordable for lower class America and low middle class American families. Thanks again, Turd. Next time you buy a steak in the supermarket -- ask yourself if we are "great" again, America!
