12. I remember a "fun" and educational trip to NYC

when I was in 6th grade. My class was part of the "World Affairs Council" here in Philly and that meant that we spent each month engaged with some kind of programming and/or giving presentations, on "global affairs" (including going to other schools in the district to present things). At the end of the year, our "reward" was a trip to the U.N., where we could go inside and sit in the General Assembly Hall in what I think was one of the media booths and try out the translation headphones. Looked sortof like this where you could look down on the auditorium (without video screens or computers because we are talking well over 50 years ago)!



It was a pretty cool experience!!
