"CHATTANOOGA, Tenn — A Chattanooga man who left threatening messages over a 2-year period to Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has just learned his federal prison fate.

Sentencing documents say 24-year-old Garry Lebron Hayes not only threatened violence against the congresswoman and her family, but also took pains to identify himself and his hometown.

Those court documents say one of the messages Hayes left on March 9th, 2022, said

Hey [Congresswoman]. My name is Gary, G-A-R-R-Y, Hayes, H-A-Y-E-S. And I’m a little bit off. I’m a little bit taken back, but I’m from that area you are. And at any time that you feel like you want to do white nationalist s---, call my name, call my name. I’ll come see you and your children, and we’ll see how that ends up. B----!"

Both sides of the political isle--and many other groups without a true political home--have their share of crazy people willing to do and say crazy things. We have to acknowledge that, and we need to try and address that within our own community if possible.

Threats against anyone's life should be totally out of bounds.
