Thank you for pointing that out. Weight is the last bastion of "acceptable" discrimination in this country. Those of us who have struggled know that first hand.

I was once denied a promotion in favor of two men who had no work experience AT ALL, just a BA in a totally unrelated field, and D- reviews in the three months and six months, respectively, they each had in the (very low-level) position we shared. This was despite my having two years in the current role with A++ reviews, 15 years of work experience prior to that job, and a degree with a 4.0 GPA in the exact field for which the spot was open.

My boss was livid and demanded answers from the higher-ups. In response, one of those managers sent her a newspaper article about why fat people don't get promoted and suggested she share it with me "because it might help her."

(Living well is the best revenge though - both dudes flunked out of the spot almost immediately, I ended up getting the promotion after a partner intervened, and have now been doing this work for nearly 30 years...the manager had to resign from her last firm amid a cloud of scandal. Karma is my kink!)
