"That'll Be The Day" [View all]

...or maybe "The Day The Music Died". I don't know, I need a segue to an atrocity

Buddy Holly is arguably the most famous person to hail from Lubbock Texas. It's a very conservative city that went two to one for Donald Trump in the last election.
They have a museum in his honor with a Buddy Holly crosswalk out front. It features the iconic glasses he wore painted across it and by all accounts the people there love it. It's like their Lone Star Abbey Road.

Well... Now the city has received a directive from the state that it be torn up immediately or suffer city funding. The reason is an executive order from the White House that bans political or artistic statements from public property.

It was meant to remove things like a protest mural in Laredo and a rainbow crosswalk in front of the Pulse nightclub in Florida among other "woke" displays. Governor Abbott says they have no choice but to comply with the president. Now the proud people of Lubbock Texas will have to lose a piece of their heritage because of a vaguely scribbled executive order proposed to stifle dissent. Elections indeed have consequences.

Rock & Roll will never die, but I guess now we have to keep it off the streets.
