on the other hand - it is probably more 'clever' - than anything really encompassing or profound.

In no way, shape or form an advocate or proponent ... And religion has plenty to answer for ...
But trying to imply that religion is the major, or even a primary cause of historical conflict ...
Is just willfully erroneous.

Religion can be employed as a 'tool' - (think propaganda and rationale) but the real driver is almost inevitably greed, power and acquisition.
