Prescription drug prices [View all]

My Wife and I are fortunate in that neither of us require high priced, exotic drugs to survive. Her Brother however, is not so lucky. His doctor just yesterday prescribed Xifaxan for him...$800+ copay for a month's supply. He has a comfortable financial cushion and can absorb the cost for the time being and for some years; but if it was me, I'd just have to update my last will and testament...

The drug costs with no insurance coverage is $2000+. How the hell do drug companies think people can pay out like that for pills?

Before anyone asks, there's no generic available and his condition is "hepatic encephalopathy (HE)" recurrence in adults with liver disease.
