2. Consider that to disappear the files maybe 1,000 FBI agents would have to lie

From what I have read over 1,000 FBI agents were assigned to comb the files looking for Trump's name and then log those appearances on spreadsheets. If they were to destroy or alter those files now they would have to hope that none of the FBI agents would feel morally obligated to blow the whistle and that if questioned, they would lie about it.
