Remember his "defense" after raping E Jean Carroll? He said she wasn't hot enough and he only had sex with supermodels.

So, he's known since May that he's in the files, maybe well before that, and the rat has looked at every possible escape hatch. The MAGAts aren't on board. He wants to make this go away. So, a public statement from Maxwell that "exonerates" him....although God knows why we'd believe her...is the escape hatch he's chosen.
