What we do here in Flyover Country is of no consequence to anybody but us rubes and shit-kickers. I recall some years ago when some people my family knew from New York came out here to visit, and they looked around and said, in astonishment, "Why...this is a beautiful city!" They literally expected to see cows and chickens in the streets. I don't think the DNC thinks we have cows and chickens in the streets, but for some reason Mamdani's candidacy is being looked at as some kind of national bellwether - which I doubt very much is the case. The voters of NYC will have to decide, and that city has its own unique issues. And so does Minneapolis; but ours aren't as significant because we are not the center of the universe like NYC. Omar Fateh is not Mamdani and Frey is not Cuomo. We'll sort it here, and if DNC stays out of it, so much the better.
