I've known this and posted a bit about plunder over the last year or so as I read books about Nazi Germany. It was a political system of plunder, though life went on normally if you weren't targeted and kept working.

I didn't mean you actually knew, just that fake papers would be created. Think how things melted down in the Great Financial Crisis. All those mortgage backed securities, credit default swaps. Think of Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme. I read a great book recently, or parts of it, about Madoff. Title was "Madoff". 11% of his business was legit and profitable. Channel traded stocks and wrote options against them. The rest was handled by those he directed to do the paperwork, and those accounting systems barely tracked anything. They just cranked out fake papers. Investors thought they had a bundle. Oh well. Hope SSA doesn't go that way but anything I get will be gravy.
