media employees.

I'm glad she lays out her views on the American electorate, and what we should say to make the case about what nonvoters and trump voters will agree on about what's at stake for them, reasons for which to vote differently this time.

Even if nonvoters want to believe it's just a narrative war, the difference is in their finding out, through suffering, which narrative works to destroy quality of life and not just lower it.

Thanks for the video.

And if nonvoters don't bother to vote NOW, what does it take?? Yikes!

And Mary Trump knows a lot, having grown up in that family. I have her two first books and recommend them highly.

The fact that nonvoters are the biggest voting block in this country is a major problem. I wonder if they've even participated in the polls we've seen this year.

6. I have her first two books on disc (read by the author) and listened to them in my car (more than once)

And recommend both of them. Her first book was more personal, about her family, and her second book was more historical/political. I'll have to get the third one if I can find it on disc, the one I'm listening to now (over again) is Liz Cheney's book which goes into detail about what congress experienced before, during and after January 6th. She even included some recordings of messages given to House members on that day. Given what's happened since, it's tough to listen to now, but I certainly recommend that one, too.

7. Way cool that you listen to books while driving.

These are things that keep people's minds more focused on what's important for humans, over and above what algorithms train many to think of as reality.

That I practically knew the words! But there was so much there - I don't think he even got to his run for president till disc #5! He really did live a fascinating life, his childhood in rural Georgia, his Navy career, his first runs for public office (when he was cheated and exposed the cheater!) and details about what he experienced as president. Obviously, I really recommend that one, too. And since I'm listening while I'm driving, I need to listen more than once because I miss a lot.

9. Awesome! I did the same with Obama's audiobooks twice.

Thing is, you're right about divided attention in traffic. But then so what. At least you can re-listen.

When people have a lot on their plate, listening to audiobooks while driving is way better than not reading at all.

to the extent that we can establish that there is value in the future of our society to become more equitable, then maybe we can change the seemingly limitless torrent of crap coming from every direction.....to introduce HOPE, NOT SOME MADE UP FOR BOOKS HOPE, REAL TANGIBLE HOPE....

5. Thanks. But nihilism doesn't get headlines.

Nihilism comes from despair, and it's not been making headlines, even if it exists in some subthreads of reddit. Humans hope. They can't help it. But they need not to be confused by some lie about "false hope." There is no such thing as false hope.

There are experts in Hope out there. Pope Francis was one of them.
Pope Francis has written an amazing book about how Hope exists in all people worldwide, with lots of concrete examples. Hope is the anchor of the soul. As he says...

Hope is a real and tangible experience. Even secular hope.
The scientific community now considers that this characteristic of the human species is one of the most powerful survival mechanisms existing in nature... it ensures that our brain is equipped with chemical targets upon which social interaction, words, and thoughts can have an effective impacet... trust, expe ctations, positive feelings move a myriad of molecules, ... this important psychological component uses the same mechanisms as medicines, activating in the end, the same biochemical paths. In short, human hope is far more than an illusion and is far more even than simple trust: It is in fact a medicine and a cure....

I highly recommend the book to everyone. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hope_(Pope_Francis_memoir)
