People have to go to work on weedays. People would rather sleep in on the weekends and then catch up on chores. Even on the coming weekend, when the crowds will be there, a lot of people are going to give it a clear miss because they'd rather spend the day with friends and family eating burnt hot dogs in their back yards, maybe going out to watch town fireworks after dark

In addition, DC isn't Iowa. DC is a very black city and they know damn well they're not wanted ar anything Fatso's crew dreams up and there went at least half of any expected crowd.

This might have been a better idea had it been done by an administration that welcomed everyone and didn't try to turn the Mall into Cornball USA. 3 miles of it is just too damned much of it, resulting in sore feat, cranky kids, and heat stroke.
