Related: About this forumTrump's words come back to haunt him - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen
BTC: Donald Trump might be giving Iran billions. How dare his detractors call him a terrible negotiator. This is just another day.
I don't think anyone would necessarily call Donald Trump's war with Iran the most fiscally sound endeavor, but today it's starting to feel even less so.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Martha MacCallum: On the Iranian side, uh there seems to be a suggestion that they're going to get $20 billion of frozen assets released to them as part of this deal.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Okay. Iran gets attacked and then gets $20 billion. I'm beginning to think that the Art of the Deal was written by this guy. [inset image of Ayatollah Khamenei]
Tell me this isn't really what's going on.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Anna Kelly: Well, look, there's been a lot of speculation, of course, in the media and certainly uh fielded by anonymous sources. And what I'll say is nothing is real. Nothing is uh everything should be considered speculation just that unless it comes from President Trump or the White House.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Got it. Nothing should be considered real unless it comes from the White House. Because if there's one thing this administration has earned, especially in their second term, it is the trust of the American people. [inset images of multiple headlines contradicting that point]
[inset video]
Trump: I thought it was me as a doctor.
[cut to studio]
BTC: But of course, as did everyone. Now, giving Iran $20 billion would be shocking unto itself, but I find it especially interesting when this direct deposit is coming from someone who had such specific thoughts on a similar matter merely a few years back.
[cut to video from 2016 debate]
Trump: The worst deal I think I've ever seen negotiated that you {Hillary Clinton} started is the Iran deal.
One of the great giveaways of all time. Of all time, including $400 million in cash. Nobody has ever seen that before. That turned out to be wrong. It was actually $1.7 billion.
This is one of the worst deals ever made by any country in history.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Hmm. Someone might want to double check my numbers here because I wasn't a math major in college. This guy happened to be a bit too busy getting his Settlers of Catan on. But when I add $1.7 billion with $400 million, it still comes out just a tad shy of $20 billion.
The idea that this president of all people, the one who tweeted 10 years ago our incompetent Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was the one who started talks to give $400 million in cash to Iran scandal, is even floating the prospect of a $20 billion cash for uranium deal with Iran is the height of hypocrisy. If Donald Trump was a musician, this would be one of his biggest hit singles.
[cut to video at White House from Fox News]
Trump: Very importantly, I terminated Barack Hussein Obama's Iran nuclear deal, a disaster. Obama gave them $1.7 billion dollar in cash.
[cut to video at 2016 campaign rally]
Trump: Barack Hussein Obama who signed one of the worst deals ever with Iran where they were going to give up everything. Remember when he filled up a 757 with billions of dollars of cash and sent it to Iran?
[cut to video at White News from Forbes News]
Trump: Remember when he filled up a 757 with cash? Billions of dollars of cash.
[cut to video]
Trump: Green, green cash.
[cut to studio]
BTC: You know, I hate to keep harping on this idea that the commander-in-chief thinks that Americans are stupid, but I believe that describing what money looks like kind of fits the bill.
Donald Trump is completely full of shit. He has spent decades blaming his opponents and warning Americans of all the dangers that lie ahead if those said opponents find themselves in power again. Yet, in every instance, it is a case of him projecting onto them exactly what he and his administration plans on doing in the future.
Take guns for example. Next to diabetes, it's kind of America's favorite thing. And years ago on the campaign trail, Donald Trump had some choice words about those weapons that we hold so dear.
[cut to video]
Trump: They will take your guns away as sure as you're standing or sitting there. They will take your guns away. Either that or obliterate the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. You have the right to bear arms.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Oh, is that what the Second Amendment is? Once again, thanks for clarifying for us because all of this Second Amendment gear was making it kind of confusing.
But that was Donald Trump's warning. If Democrats ever got into power again, they would diabolically and systematically take away your Second Amendment rights. Well, it's a good thing that never happened.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Kash Patel: You cannot bring a firearm loaded with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have that right to break the law and incite violence.
[cut to video]
Rob Chadwick: Mr. Pretti was not violating the law in terms of the Second Amendment. His he had a constitutionally protected right and the law in Minnesota did not prohibit him from carrying a firearm down there.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Weird. I guess when Kash Patel was reading that Second Amendment, he must have gotten his eyes crossed.
Or how about the draft? In the 2024 campaign, Trump and Vance hammered away at the idea that a Kamala Harris presidency would guarantee that our sons and daughters would be called up for war.
[cut to video from Forbes News]
JD Vance: The thing that I worry the most about for this generation is that if we don't get foreign policy right, a lot of people in your generation are going to pick up the pieces and fix the mistakes of the current generation of American leadership. And I don't want you to have to do that.
[snip]
I do not want you guys to have to put on a uniform, not because you're patriotic and volunteer, but because your country forces you to because Kamala Harris has blundered us into another significant conflict.
[cut to studio]
BTC: The message was clear. If you're some sicko who's craving a military draft, then the Harris-Walz ticket was perfect for you, but if you're a true patriot who wants to keep the draft as a relic of the past, there's only one administration you can truly count on.
[cut to video from Fox News]
Maria Bartiromo: I want to get your take about this idea of troops on the ground. Mothers out there are worried that we're going to have a draft, that they're going to see their sons get in and and daughters get involved in this. What do you want to say about the president's plans for troops on the ground? As we know, it's been largely an air campaign up until now.
Karoline Leavitt: It has been and it will continue to be and President Trump wisely does not remove options off of the table.
[cut to studio]
BTC: That's right. Nothing is off the table, especially the word duplicity. But let's move on to some lighter fair, shall we?
Pedophiles. Remember a few years back when certain testosterone fueled podcasters warned us that unless some adults took over, the massive Epstein coverup would continue?
[cut to video]
Dan Bongino: We need to keep the heat on this case, folks. There are a lot of people who are knee-deep in the Washington swamp who are not telling you the truth about serious allegations out there that Epstein may have had video and audio of people out there doing things they shouldn't have been doing. And you should be asking yourself the question, how is it that all these people, the CIA director, the Obama fixer, Bill Clinton, all intersected past with Jeffrey Epstein? Jeffrey Epstein isn't with us anymore and nobody seems to want to talk about it.
[cut to studio]
BTC: No one wanted to talk about it. It was almost as uncomfortable as talking about money.
[inset video]
Trump: Green, green cash.
BTC: I know what money fucking looks like. [snaps and angrily glances at inset video]
Sorry, but here we are. Bongino's wish came true. The adults are in charge and finally we can start talking about Epstein again.
[cut to video of Jesse Watters Show on Fox News]
Todd Blanche: I think that to the extent that the Epstein files was a part of the of the past year of this Justice Department, it will should not be a part of anything going forward.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Wow. I am so confused because I could have sworn. I mean, didn't they say, "I feel like my head is spinning. I think I might need a doctor."
But if there was one alarm bell being rung by Donald Trump and his associates that was louder than the rest, it was the one alerting us to what our grim future could look like if a corrupt president were to ever take the oath of office again.
[cut to video from 2020 campaign rally in Ocala, FL]
Trump: Look, this is the most corrupt group of people, okay? I've gotten. And you know when I say drained the swamp, I used to think it was like a swamp this thick inside or real thick.
[cut to video from CNBC in 2020]
Kayleigh McEnany: There have been numerous press reports that have shown other close Biden family members benefited from Joe's 47 year political career.
[cut to video from 2020 campaign rally in Ocala, FL]
Trump: It's a political class that enriched itself while draining the economic life and soul from our country. Look at what's happened.
[cut to video]
Trump: Joe Biden and his son are corrupt.
[cut to video from 2020 campaign rally in Ocala, FL]
Trump: Joe Biden has been blatantly lying about his involvement in his son's corrupt business dealings.
[cut to video from HBO]
Donald Trump, Jr.: I haven't benefited from my father's taxpayer funded office.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Look, I could ramble on about the clandestine crypto dinners, the pardoning of wealthy donors, and the president's lawsuit against our own nation's IRS. But when the president's son put someone else on blast for dirty deals, I think you can see where this is going.
[cut to video from US CENTCOM Public Affairs]
Announcer: Just yesterday, drone maker Power Us announcing it will merge with a golf course holding company backed by Trump's sons Eric and Don Jr. and with plans to create a new publicly traded company. That new company is calling the Trump's notable investors, saying it aims to support American drone industry dominance. The company is said to compete for lucrative military contracts, trying to fill a void in the market that was created by President Trump's own administration, which in December banned all new foreign made drones, citing national security concerns.
[cut to studio]
BTC: The man who accused other administrations of blatant corruption, placed a ban on foreign drones, and his sons just so happened to now be investors in a domestic drone company. That's like one step away from starting a company called Ballrooms and Arches Unlimited.
Donald Trump, his family, and his colon dwelling minions are not pillars of morality. They're not arbiters of integrity. They are simply liars and grifters who will say whatever it takes to keep their hands on the levers of power so they can stuff their pockets with giant wads of oh um what do we call that again?
[inset video]
Trump: Green, green cash.
[cut to studio]
BTC: Exactly.
