Independent journalist and Palestine solidarity activist Adele Shoko, who was in one of the cars, says the attack is part of an unprecedented escalation of settler activity in the occupied West Bank, taking place in so-called Area A, which is nominally under the full control of the Palestinian Authority. Area C is almost entirely ethnically cleansed by the settlers backed by the Israeli state, and they moved to Area B, attacking big villages. But Area A is another level.

(9,403 posts)They've been terrorizing Palestinians on the West Bank for decades and are dedicated to driving them all out.
They ascribe to the "from the river to the sea" mentality.
This is a toxic mentality, and insures there won't be peace in the middle east for generations to come.
I don't support them any more than I support Hamas or Hezbollah.

(4,805 posts)It's why they are protected and rarely charged for even murder.
But the goals of the State and the Settlers are the same - "from the River to the Sea".
Ironically, the mere utterance of that slogan by one side is criminalized or painted as "anti-semitic" while the other side has worked since before 1948 to make it a REALITY - while the entire West pretends it's not happening and pretends it wants a two-state solution that its own inaction over decades has made impossible. How effed up is that?
More than 10% of Israeli Jews - 700,000 - live in the West Bank now, much more planned. They are all settlers. They will "settle" Gaza now too, the hidden goal behind the genocide.
If you were a Palestinian, what would you do? What can you do?

(1,601 posts)Trump attacked Nigeria under the "false pretense" of protecting Christians. The whole world has seen the videos of the Nuns and other Christians being attacked in Jerusalem and other parts of Israel. Israeli authorities have seized Centuries old church properties and destroyed Christian villages and historic churches and monasteries in Lebanon.
Why haven't any of the press asked why the US turns a blind eye to Israel's atrocities against Christians after all their rhetoric about protecting Christians abroad ? Why hasn't Evangelical minister and ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee been asked to intervene on behalf of the faithful?
