Federal judge permanently bars Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops to Portland - KATU News

A federal judge ruled Friday that the Trump administration cannot deploy the National Guard to the city of Portland, granting the state of Oregon and the city a permanent injunction.

Federal Judge Karin J. Immergut, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, however, still allowed the Trump administration to federalize the National Guard.

“This partial administrative stay ‘preserves the status quo in which National Guard members have been federalized but not deployed,’” she wrote in her ruling Friday.

She had issued a preliminary injunction earlier this week that paused any deployment until Friday 5 p.m. That injunction is now permanent.

In a post on X, Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield said the ruling was "a huge victory for Oregon."

"The courts are holding this administration accountable to the truth and the rule of law," he wrote. - Aired on 11/07/2025.
