We never had racism in our country before Obama caused it all by becoming president.

In 9th grade history I remember learning all about the Civil Rights Movement, and when I saw the name Viola Liuzzo here on DU, I knew exactly who she was.

I am 65 years old. I have been waiting since Shirley Chisholm ran for president in 1972 to have a woman president. When Hillary lost to Trump it broke my heart. I was sure we would finally have a woman president that year. We suffered through Trump's disastrous presidency and Biden was elected--with a woman Vice-President! Biden did so much for this country, and I was ready for another 4 years of his calm and steady guidance. When the news organizations, republicans, and some democrats started with the absolute crap about Biden's age and capability and forced him to step aside in the 2024 presidential race, I was horrified, but I consoled myself that we still had Harris to step into the breach. I was devastated when Trump was reelected. I am sickened by his administration and the horrors happening because Trump is in office. My heart still wants a woman president, and I'm beyond angry that I am being told that I have to wait yet again until "America is ready for a woman president"! I understand that it is more important that the Democrats win, but I am incensed that I have to wait because a bunch of misogynistic idiots are butt hurt by a woman running things! We are being destroyed by the patriarchy and their stupidity! I haven't got decades left. My son and I had a discussion about how angry I am that we're back to where I started out as an adult. All the strides forward are being systematically erased so that a bunch of old, rich men can make more money. Here's a news flash for them--you can't take it with you! When you die someone else gets all your money. All the power you wield because of that money ceases when you die. History is being made daily, so eventually you will be forgotten. At this point, all I want to do is outlive these morons, but my heart will always want a good woman to be in power, and show these idiots what could be done to make our country what it should be. A country with "liberty, and justice for all"!

Years ago I tried to guess who might be our first female president and I finally decided it might be Barbara Boxer, I thought she was very good. *sigh* Meanwhile other countries less progressive than ours have elected leaders decades ago, Indira Gandhi of India, Golda Meir of Israel, Margaret Thatcher of the UK, Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan! And in recent recent years we've seen the Scandinavian countries and New Zealand elect female leaders as well. So what's preventing us?? Instead, this country appears to be going backwards - women in this country appear to be losing rights rather than gaining them...
