A deal is another name for agreement. The components of a legal agreement or contract are offer, acceptance, consideration, and terms of the agreement.

Trump is combining offer and acceptance, that is, the other party is denied the right to refuse the offer. This is dictatorial. This is a farce. This is like my father going through a charade of pretending to let me decide a new family policy, but in fact, he's already decided for me.

And I had the same experience with my father, summer camp and boarding school, but I've learned that he was only the "enforcer," both were actually my grandmother's idea, thought it would be an advantage for me.

I hated the pretending that I had a say in any matter.

Actually, camp turned out to be a good thing, I ended up going for six years, and became involved, and am still friends with the girls I got to know there today. Boarding school was another matter, was totally on the outs with my father during that time - though I liked the other girls, it was started in 1879 which should give you an idea.

where you couldn't have male visitors.

He hoped I'd meet a future husband at a mixer for pre-law or pre-med, someone with connections.

I ended up liking the school, eschewing the prep school debutantes and hanging with a bunch of gals who smoked, drank, and swore and dated unemployed rock musicians. It was a blast.

I also went to an all-women's college, though it was a "coordinate" college with the men's college across the street. It was brand new and the men's college had started it, we could take courses from either college. The only issue was that that the men's college had been there since the 1600s and was rather staid while the women's college was extremely liberal - which was why it was my first choice - and I'm sure that my boarding school's reputation helped me get in. My grandmother took me for my interview, my father wanted nothing to do with it. But my relationship with my father was on the mend during those years, I no longer called and cried to come home.

No country is paying Trump's tariffs. Americans pay the tariffs on the imports but no one in the White House press corp is willing to say that out loud.
