Sanford Pentagon a packed house for South Dakota's first WNBA game
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - It was a historic day for basketball fans in Sioux Falls and South Dakota. The WNBA hosted its first-ever game in the Mount Rushmore state between South Dakota-native Nate Tibbetts Phoenix Mercury and the Chicago Sky.
Lines went out the door more than an hour before tip-off. Basketball fans traveled from around the region to take in the game and witness history. Kelsy Coulter was thrilled to take her basketball-loving daughter Avaya to the game and see it through Avayas eyes.
I think its really great that we have the opportunity to attend a game here in Sioux Falls, and Im just excited for her to be part of this, Kelsy Coulter said.
Yeah, Ive been very excited just waiting for today, Avaya Coulter said. I think its great that all these people love basketball and can attend it today.
