Where are all the aliens?: Fermi's paradox explained

https://phys.org/news/2025-04-aliens-fermi-paradox.html

Astronomers raised hopes that humanity might not be alone in the universe by announcing on Thursday they have detected the most promising hints yet of life on a distant planet.

But given the age and vastness of the universe, a different question has long puzzled some scientists: Why haven't we already come in contact with aliens?

"Where is everybody?" Enrico Fermi asked fellow famous physicists including Edward Teller over lunch in 1950.

This quandary was named Fermi's paradox.

. . .

An interesting analysis of some leading theories follows. Pretty easy to read.

But I had to quit reading as soon as I got to the obligatory fellatio on Elon Musk...

every alien species will eventually have their own Elon Musk who will go out and settle the next star over

Musk is NOT a visonary nor an inventor. He IS a drug-addled fool and leveraging of luck and providence into money and power. He is no smarter than millions and is objectively an asshole beyond belief....

"...he was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple."

Musk's 'genius' is shown in his singular creation/design is in the deplorably ugly Cyber Truck. The one think I say about Musk is he did better with his heads tart/inheritance than his fellow rich kid, the sick fuck trump.

They're both blowing it with DOGE and the clown show trump 2.0 admin.

6. I agree that this seemed a bit gratuitous - that's why I made sure I didn't copy that.

The rest of the article is good as an overview but doesn't break into any new theories.

therefore trillions x however many planets. To think our Earth is the only instance where life has developed is not a sign of intelligent life.

And what accounts for the many unexplained sightings by pilots, both military and commercial, of UFOs with speed and inexplicable, other-worldly maneuvers never seen before?

Plus, if we were to actually pick up broadcast signals from some distant planet (something I consider highly unlikely, BTW) we'd need to take into account the distance of that planet (say, 60 light years away) and know that the signals originated a very long time ago, and no telling if that civilization is still around.

Fermi had no clue just how vast even our own galaxy is, let alone the Universe as a whole.

Why would they come to a surface air breather planet? Most planets if they have life will be subsurface.
What if they came 6 billion years ago? No Earth!
etc.
