The Bears had done well capitalizing on the mistakes of their opponents during their four game winning streak. The Ravens didn't make very many mistakes, and certainly no big mistakes. Zero turnovers, the running game largely disappeared, and Caleb Williams was not enough to recover from the Bears mistakes, which were many. Fortunately, the next opponent for the Bears are the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Cincinnati Bengals led the 0-7 Jets by 15 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter, and somehow found a way to lose. Their last game was an impressive win over the Steelers. Then they fall in ignominy to the lowly Jets. That was only one of the surprising results of week 8.
The Miami Dolphins beat somebody, to wit the Atlanta Falcons, 34-10. The Falcons are, admittedly, no great shakes, but it's a stunner that the Fins were better than anyone on a Sunday. It's been a long time.
The Houston Texans have had many problems on their offensive line, and it's almost a gimme to pick a respected team like the 49'ers to handle them with ease. Texans won 26-15.
Other games were no surprise, although the final scores were a but surprising. The Bills crushed the Panthers 40-9, the Bucs humiliated the Saints 23-3, the Broncos and the Colts defeated the Cowboys and Titans respectively by three scores. New England and Philadelphia won expected games comfortably. The Packers and Steelers are facing off right now and the Commanders play in Kansas City tomorrow night.
Weeks like this make football interesting.

(43,929 posts)Very enjoyable read. Iggle Fan here. I also have a great deal of love for the Saints. Broncos are impressing halfway through the season. Break up the Jets.

(32,643 posts)Texans TOP advantage was 41.22 to 18.38. Texans ran 75 plays on offense, 49ers 44.
Surprised the 26-15 score was that close.
San Francisco is a team in crisis.

(22,097 posts)PHILADELPHIA -- New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo was carted off the field midway through the second quarter of Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles because of a gruesome dislocation of his right ankle.
Skattebo's ankle got caught underneath an Eagles player as he tried to catch a pass over the middle of the field. His right foot was turned sharply to the right.
He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game and taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to the Giants. The team later said that Skattebo was scheduled to undergo surgery Sunday night at a Philadelphia-area hospital.
"Yeah, feel absolutely terrible for the young man," coach Brian Daboll said. "Obviously, saw it looked bad. I know you feel for anybody on your team that goes down and has a really bad injury and ... I know the players feel the same way about [Skattebo]."

That must have hurt like hell.

(29,761 posts)I'm glad that more of a nationwide audience got to see Skatteboo play. He broke many tackles in his 2 years at Arizona State. Before that he played for FCS Sacramento State IIRC. After his junior year he asked coach Dillingham what it would take to be a NFL running back and he did what it took to be one building a lot of muscle in 1 year. It looked like he gained even more muscle from last year but it is common for rookies to deal with injuries in their first year.
I wish him a speedy recovery and best of luck for the rest of his NFL career.
