Ashton Jeanty is totally a force to reckon with, but was pleasantly surprised he went in the first round! If he doesn't get busted up, I believe Jeanty will make the NFL highlight films EVERY week.

Kudos to the Raiders for thinking outside the box.

Could he pick up a blitz if need be?

Yeah, those are pretty glitzy college stats. Only problem is, well, they're college stats.

I'm not following the Raiders anymore, but it appears they have bigger needs (no pun intended) than Jeanty.

Picking up a blitz was not Barry Sanders‘ strong suit, but he racked up some impressive stats.

I suspect Ashton Jeanty will be repeatedly compared to Barry Sanders

who has the single season record for college. He did play in the Mountain West but the MWC is probably the best mid major conference but even then early in the season he was nearly averaging 10 YPC. Not anyone could do that.

This draft class was supposed to be one of the best draft classes for running backs and he was the best running back prospect and outside of that he was one of the best players in this draft class for any position. Cam Skattebo is also another running back in this year's draft class, he doesn't have the best 40 time but runs with a low center of gravity and breaks a lot of tackles like Jeanty. He was taken by the Giants in the 4th round.

I remember when Denver had Terrell Davis and a reporter would say he had a great game but TD would point out blocks he missed in the game. I don't think Jeanty would do any worse or better than any running back at blitz pickup. They still have 2 Super Bowl wins because of him.
